In 1822 Clement Clarke Moore wrote his Saint Nicholas poem and described Saint Nicholas as a right jolly old elf. This changed the image of Saint Nicholas for American children. It separated him from his feast day of December 6 and moved him to Christmas Eve. The first beginnings of Santa Claus as we know him today began with Moore’s poem.
The seventh figure in The Legend of Saint Nicholas Limited Edition Collector Series depicts Saint Nicholas as the jolly old elf on the chimney with his sack full of toys.
