
Msgr. Thomas C. Brady was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Rockford, Illinois on May 27, 1954. He has served parishes in the diocese since ordination 54 years ago. He retired as pastor of Saint Peter Church in South Beloit on July 1, 2004. He continues to serve the diocese as one of its Vicar Generals.
Msgr. Brady received his M.A. in School Administration from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana in 1959; a Master's Degree in Religious Education from Loyola University, Chicago, Illinois in 1969; and a Ph.D. from Walden University, Minneapolis, Minnesota in Counseling-Psychology in 1975.
In addition to serving in parishes, Msgr. Brady has served on the faculty of two Diocesan Catholic High Schools, and also as principal and superintendent. He has served as Diocesan Director of Adult Education and Director of Education.
A member of several professional educational associations, Msgr. Brady has held consultant advisory positions with the U.S.A.F. Chaplains and with the NCCB Committee on Priestly Life and Ministry. He has authored various articles and contributed to books on counseling and psychology. He published the first edition of his book The Understanding Heart: a Practical Guide to Listening and Understanding in 1997.
Msgr. Brady is the Executive Director of the Diocesan Cemeteries; and serves as a member of two diocesan investment boards and the board of Saint Anthony College of Nursing. He continues to help with priestly ministry in various parishes in the Diocese of Rockford.
