Moises Alou says he’ll likely turn down offers he has received to play this season, including one from the Philadelphia Phillies, and end his 18-year career after the World Baseball Classic. Alou played the first four innings in left field and went 0-for-2 Thursday in the Dominican Republic’s 4-1 exhibition loss to the St.





Left-hander Dennys Reyes and the St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to $3 million, two-year contract. The 31-year-old, 32-32 with a 4.28 ERA, is joining his 10th team. He spent the last three seasons with Minnesota and was 3-0 with a 2.33 ERA in a career-high 75 games last season, the most by a lefty in the AL.

The St. Louis Cardinals are putting single-game tickets on sale Friday, some at deep discounts reflecting the economic downturn. The Cardinals have exceeded 3 million in attendance 10 of the last 11 seasons, including all three years at new Busch Stadium. But for the first time, the team does not expect to sell that many tickets by opening day.
